Kurdistan Region Security Council: Peshmerga Forces Ready to Resist Any Enemy Plot or Attack with Strong Resolve
ARK News.. The Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) issued a statement on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, regarding two drone attacks that targeted Peshmerga forces on Monday and Tuesday (April 28–29).
The KRSC stated that five Peshmerga fighters were wounded in two separate drone strikes in Duhok Province. "The wounded are in stable condition, and the Peshmerga remain fully prepared to resist any plot or attack by the enemy with firm determination," the statement read.
The Council emphasized that, "While peace efforts are underway in Northern Kurdistan, and following the Kurdish Unity and Common Position Conference in Western Kurdistan, and as negotiations to form a new government near completion, certain parties and groups are attempting to disrupt peace and stability in the region."
"We strongly condemn these terrorist attacks," the statement continued, "and we warn all groups and actors targeting the security of the Kurdistan Region."
The Council added that both the Peshmerga and internal security forces stand ready to respond appropriately to any hostile assault.
On Tuesday, two Peshmerga members were wounded when a drone struck their position in the Amidiye district of Duhok Province — the second such incident in 24 hours. A day earlier, a drone explosion at a Peshmerga military outpost in Amidiye had injured three fighters.
