Marlin Stutzman: Ahmad al-Sharaa Open to Normalizing Relations with Israel

ARK News.. Republican Congressman Marlin Stutzman, who recently visited Syria and met with President Ahmad al-Sharaa, revealed that the new Syrian administration has laid out clear conditions for normalizing relations, including an end to Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory.

In an interview with The Jerusalem Post, Congressman Stutzman stated that Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa is “open to joining the Abraham Accords, which could pave the way for normalization with Israel, other Middle Eastern countries, and the United States.”

Stutzman noted that the primary condition set by the Syrian authorities is the preservation of Syria’s unity and sovereignty. He highlighted President Al-Sharaa’s concern about any efforts to divide the country into separate regions. “Al-Sharaa doesn’t want that... He wants to see Syria remain a unified state,” Stutzman said.

The congressman also reported that the Syrian president raised the issue of the Golan Heights and stressed the need for Israel to cease its strikes on Syrian soil. “I truly believe he is open to dialogue,” Stutzman concluded.
