President Nechirvan Barzani: The Bombing of Qaladze and the University of Sulaymaniyah Strengthened Our People’s Resolve
ARK News.. Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed today that the atrocious crime committed by the former Iraqi regime in bombing Qaladze and the University of Sulaymaniyah not only failed to break the Kurdish people's will but further strengthened their determination to continue the struggle for freedom and justice.
In a statement marking the 51st anniversary of the attack, President Barzani said:
“Today, we solemnly remember the painful anniversary of the bombing of the University of Sulaymaniyah and the town of Qaladze on April 24, 1974 — a brutal act carried out by the former Iraqi regime in a futile attempt to crush the will of the Kurdish people and their liberation movement. The attack led to the martyrdom of dozens of students, academics, and civilians.”
“On this solemn occasion, we pay tribute to the young lives lost at the university and bow in respect to their pure souls. That horrific crime added yet another tragic chapter to Kurdistan’s history, but it did not weaken our people’s spirit — instead, it ignited a renewed passion for resistance and the continued struggle for freedom.”
President Barzani also expressed full support for increased development and services for the Pshdar region and Qaladze, describing them as historic symbols of Kurdish resistance.
“It is our collective responsibility to work toward a better future for these areas and for all of Kurdistan, in honor of their sacrifices.”
“Glory to the souls of the martyrs of the University of Sulaymaniyah, Qaladze, and all of Kurdistan’s fallen heroes. May their memory live on?”
