Turkey and Syria Agree to Boost Bilateral Trade Volume
ARK News.. Turkish Minister of Trade Önder Polat announced on Monday, April 21, 2025, that Turkey and Syria have agreed to ease customs procedures and enhance bilateral trade volume.
According to Russia's TASS news agency, Polat stated that in order to increase the flow of trade between the two countries, it is essential to facilitate operations at border crossings and relocate loading and unloading activities into Syrian territory.
“The transport ministries of both countries will address this issue within the coming weeks by signing an agreement aimed at streamlining customs transactions,” Polat said. “As a result, trade corridors from Turkey to the Middle East will become more efficient.”
The Turkish minister also noted that the two sides agreed to cooperate in the areas of trade, investment, and services under a comprehensive economic partnership agreement.
In addition, Turkey’s Ministry of Industry and Technology will assist in rehabilitating industrial zones in Syria and support investment activities between the two nations.
An agreement was also reached to resume the previously suspended Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Syria. As part of the deal, Syria will lower tariffs on nearly 300 categories of Turkish goods.
