
UN: Nearly 440,000 Syrian Refugees Have Returned Home
ARK News.. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has reported that nearly 440,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their homeland from neighboring countries.
According to the UNHCR, approximately 437,226 Syrians crossed back into Syria between December 8, 2024, and April 17, 2025. The estimate is based on data collected from Syria and neighboring countries including Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.
In addition, the UN agency documented the return of nearly one million internally displaced Syrians to their areas of origin, including 188,121 individuals who had been living in displacement camps, since the fall of the Assad regime through April 10 of this year.
The report further noted that 175,512 Syrians—representing around 33,000 families—voluntarily returned from Turkey to Syria as of April 13.
