Syrian Democratic Forces and Syrian Government Reach Agreement on Tishreen Dam Management

Apr 03 2025

ARK News.. Syrian media sources have revealed that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian government have reached an agreement to hand over the management of the Tishreen Dam to a specialized civilian entity.

According to Syria TV, the preliminary agreement stipulates the neutralization of the Tishreen Dam area, located in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, and the transfer of its administration to a civilian body, ensuring no military presence from either side on the ground.

The implementation of the agreement is expected to proceed implicitly in the coming period as part of broader efforts to prevent potential military escalations or clashes in the region.

Tishreen Dam, situated in Aleppo province, approximately 30 kilometers southeast of Manbij, is a crucial infrastructure project with a storage capacity of 1.9 billion cubic meters. It stands 25 meters high and extends 900 meters in length.

The dam plays a vital role in electricity generation and water regulation, making any damage to it a significant threat to civilian safety and resource sustainability.
