Turkey Evaluates Possibility of Establishing a Base in Syria

ARK News.. Turkish sources have revealed regional consensus on establishing a joint operations center in Syria as part of efforts to enhance stability in the country.

In a press statement, sources from the Turkish Ministry of Defense stated, "On March 9, 2025, Jordan hosted a ministerial-level meeting with the participation of Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon."

The sources added, "During this meeting, the five participating countries agreed to support Syria in its fight against terrorism, particularly against the terrorist organization ISIS."

They further confirmed that "the establishment of the joint operations center came in response to requests from the new Syrian government and was based on an understanding reached with the concerned nations." The statement also emphasized that "work on this initiative is ongoing."

Potential Turkish Military Base in Syria

In a related development, the Turkish Ministry of Defense clarified that Turkey "continues to evaluate the possibility of establishing a training base in Syria to enhance the capabilities of the Syrian army, in line with the requests of the new Syrian government."

The sources assured that "all activities carried out in Syria are coordinated in advance with the relevant parties, with all necessary security measures being taken."
