Pedersen Welcomes the Issuance of the Constitutional Declaration in Syria
ARK News.. The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Syria has welcomed the issuance of the Constitutional Declaration in Syria, expressing hope that it will serve as a legal framework for an inclusive political transition.
Following Syrian President Ahmed al-Shari’s ratification of the declaration on Thursday, UN Special Envoy Geir Pedersen stated: “We welcome steps aimed at restoring the rule of law,” adding that “this development could fill a significant legal vacuum.”
Pedersen expressed his hope that “the Constitutional Declaration will provide a solid and credible legal framework for a comprehensive political transition.”
The UN envoy emphasized that “proper implementation will be crucial, alongside continued efforts to ensure an orderly transitional governance process.”
