Over 100 Syrian Detainees in Lebanon Go on Hunger Strike
ARK News... More than 100 Syrian detainees at Roumieh Prison in Lebanon have begun a hunger strike to protest the non-implementation of an agreement between Lebanon and Syria for their repatriation.
One of the Syrian detainees told Asharq Al-Awsat that a list of 100 Syrian prisoners who decided to go on hunger strike was submitted to the prison administration, expressing their frustration over the delay in their return to Syria.
He stated that the detainees have a single demand: the implementation of the agreement reached between the two countries when former Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati visited Damascus. At that time, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had started procedures to repatriate all Syrian detainees from Lebanese prisons.
