ARK News.. Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani highlighted the region’s efforts to overcome crises, achieve political and economic stability, and serve its citizens during a special dialogue session at the World Government Summit in Dubai on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

In a conversation with Abdullah Lootah, UAE Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs, under the theme "Overcoming Challenges and Seizing Opportunities," Barzani emphasized the KRG’s ongoing efforts to resolve issues with the federal government and ensure political stability in the Kurdistan Region.

Empowering the New Generation

“We are striving to meet all the needs of the new generation, fulfill their aspirations, and provide them with more opportunities,” Barzani stated. He explained that the government has encouraged investment by offering loans to help young entrepreneurs establish their businesses.

“We have a conscious and creative new generation ready to overcome challenges. We have established solid legal frameworks to facilitate investment, tackle health, political, and economic crises, and we have managed to overcome these challenges through cooperation between the public and private sectors,” he added.

Security and Economic Growth

Barzani underscored the importance of security and stability in attracting investment: “The security and stability we enjoy in Kurdistan are crucial in encouraging businesspeople and foreign investors to come and invest in our region.”

Regarding relations between Erbil and Baghdad, he reaffirmed KRG’s commitment to resolving political disputes with the federal government. “We are working closely with the private sector to continue reforming government projects. We have achieved many of our goals, but of course, there is still much work ahead.”

He stressed that the well-being of the people must be at the heart of any government’s agenda, stating: “If a government wants to succeed, it must prioritize the needs of its people. Achieving this requires negotiation, compromise, and sometimes struggle on multiple fronts to serve the public interest. We are fully committed to the health and well-being of our citizens.”

Strengthening Ties with the UAE and Global Partnerships

Barzani highlighted the importance of learning from successful models, pointing to the UAE as a source of inspiration for Kurdistan’s ongoing reforms. “The UAE is one of the countries we look up to and learn from in implementing the reforms we have initiated in Kurdistan.”

He also emphasized the government’s focus on education, stating: “Education is undoubtedly one of our priorities. We are working to elevate Kurdistan’s education system to international standards. We take pride in having numerous publics, private, and international universities and institutes in our region, with many of our graduates successfully employed in both the public and private sectors.”

Participation in the World Government Summit

Prime Minister Barzani arrived in the UAE on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the head of an official delegation to participate in the World Government Summit in Dubai, following an official invitation. The summit is scheduled to take place from February 11 to 13.

During his visit, Barzani is expected to hold bilateral meetings and high-level discussions with global leaders, senior officials, and key decision-makers. Additionally, he will meet with prominent figures from the private sector, business leaders, and investors from the region and beyond.

These discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations between Kurdistan and various countries, expanding cooperation in economic, investment, trade, and development sectors, and exchanging views on regional and international issues.
