Syrian National Coalition Set to Dissolve in the Coming Days

Feb 11 2025

ARK new.. Syrian media sources have confirmed that the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) is preparing to dissolve itself in the coming days following the fall of the Assad regime and the transfer of power to a new government.

According to Syria TV, an internal memo from the coalition’s human resources department informed employees that operations at the Istanbul office would officially cease at the end of last month.

The memo reportedly stated: "Dear colleagues, warm greetings. In these blessed days, as a free Syria is reborn, we once again congratulate you on the fall of the criminal regime and the return of Syria to its people."

It continued: "Following the fall of the regime and in accordance with its charter, the National Coalition is preparing to relocate its headquarters to Damascus while maintaining a representative office in Istanbul. Those willing to move to Damascus are requested to notify the human resources department. Accordingly, the last working day here will be January 31, 2025."

The source also revealed that the SNC has been struggling to pay salaries, with employees not receiving their wages since November.

While the coalition has assured staff that salaries for December will be paid in the coming days, the fate of January and February salaries remains uncertain. The delay, according to the SNC, is due to funding issues beyond its control.

Meanwhile, the coalition’s human resources department has urged employees with at least a technical institute degree to submit updated résumés in an effort to secure jobs for them within the new government.

It is worth noting that SNC President Hadi Al-Bahra previously held a three-hour meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Shar’i to discuss various issues related to Syria’s political transition.
