Israel Katz: Israeli Army to Remain in Mount Haramon Indefinitely
ARK News.. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the Israeli army will maintain its presence in Mount Haramon and the buffer zone for an indefinite period.
During a field visit to military positions on Mount Haramon, a strategically significant peak in Syrian territory that Israel seized a day after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, Katz stated, “The Israeli army will remain in the security zone for an unlimited time,” claiming that this move is necessary to safeguard Israel’s security and protect settlements in the Golan Heights.
Katz emphasized that Israel "will not return to the pre-October 7th reality and will act against any threat."
He added that Israel plans to establish connections with local residents in the area, aiming for good neighborly relations, particularly with the sizable Druze population, who, he noted, have historical and familial ties to the Druze community in Israel.
