EU Crisis Hajja Lihbib: Talks with Al-Sharaa Were Intense, Frank, and Friendly
ARK News.. The EU’s Head of Crisis Management, Hajja Lihbib, briefed European Union foreign ministers today on the outcomes of her recent discussions regarding Syria.
Speaking at the meeting in Brussels, Lihbib described her talks with Ahmed al-Shar'a, leader of Syria’s new administration, as “intense, frank, and friendly.”
She added that al-Shar'a expressed confidence in launching an inclusive political process, which would prioritize the respect for human rights and women’s rights.
Lihbib urged the European Union to decide whether it wants to play an active role in Syria or leave the field open for other players, emphasizing the importance of the EU’s involvement in shaping the country’s future.
Lihbib visited Damascus 10 days ago, where she held discussions with Ahmed al-Shar'a during her stay.
