New Syrian Administration Establishes "Barracks Prison" at Hama Military Airport

ARK News.. The Syrian military operations administration has established a new detention facility, known as the "Barracks Prison," inside Hama Military Airport. To date, 133 detainees have been transferred there, most of whom are former regime forces and "Shabiha" militiamen.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, these individuals were detained during recent security campaigns targeting the countryside of Latakia and Hama. These operations are part of ongoing efforts by the administration to crack down on remnants of the former regime and individuals implicated in crimes against humanity in the region.

The source reports that over 9,000 officers and soldiers are currently held in various prisons, including Adra, Hama, and Harem, as well as among those who returned from Iraq. Recently, 34 officers and soldiers were released through the mediation of Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, the spiritual leader of the Druze community.

Families of the detainees have expressed increasing concern over the fate of their loved ones, particularly following the circulation of videos showing some being subjected to torture. Families have also reported being denied any form of communication with the detainees, while officials have failed to respond to their repeated pleas for information and the release of those proven innocent.

In this context, relatives of the detainees continue to demand that authorities disclose the fate of their loved ones and release those whose hands are not stained with blood, similar to others who have reached settlements and been released.
