President Nechirvan Barzani’s New Year Message

President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region extended his heartfelt congratulations to all communities in the region, the people of Iraq, and the world on the occasion of the New Year. He expressed his hopes for a year filled with peace, stability, development, and happiness for all.
Below is the full text of the message:
On the Occasion of the New Year 2025
I extend my warmest congratulations to all the beloved citizens of Kurdistan, especially the honorable families of martyrs, the heroic Peshmerga forces, the internal security forces, and all components of the Kurdistan Region. I also congratulate the people of Iraq and the world. May the New Year bring peace, stability, development, prosperity, and happiness to everyone.
The year 2024 brought significant changes and transformations to the region, with security and political challenges casting their shadow over the entire area. These developments demand elevated thinking and a strengthening of internal harmony to confront risks to security and stability while seizing available opportunities.
In this spirit, I call on all political parties and components of Kurdistan to work together to overcome differences and move forward into the future with a sense of shared national responsibility. In this critical period and under the current circumstances, collective and unified efforts are the only path to strengthening the Kurdistan Region's position and securing our legitimate rights. Therefore, I emphasize the need to expedite the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet.
On this occasion, I reiterate the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to working with the Federal Government of Iraq and our regional and international partners to address shared challenges and find lasting solutions to our issues. Collaboration among us will be a pillar of stability, peace, and development for Iraq and the broader region, fostering peaceful coexistence among the diverse peoples and communities of this land.
The Kurdistan Region, driven by the genuine will of its people across all components and supported by its national forces, has the capacity to overcome challenges and continue building a brighter future for the next generations. Let us embrace hope and make the New Year an opportunity for diligent efforts to realize the aspirations of our people.
