Trump: America Will Not Intervene in Syrian Affairs; Syrians Must Manage Their Own Issues
ARK News.. U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has affirmed that the United States will not intervene in Syria’s internal matters, and it is up to the Syrian people to manage their own affairs.
In an interview with the French magazine Paris Match, Trump stated that the ongoing situation in Syria does not rank among the United States' top priorities.
Trump emphasized that resolving the war between Russia and Ukraine will be a key focus of his administration, which will officially take office on January 20, 2025.
"There are many crises around the world. We recently received news from Syria, but they will have to sort out their own problems because we won’t intervene, and France won’t intervene either," the U.S. president-elect added.
On December 8, 2024, Syrian factions took control of the capital, Damascus, and other cities, following the withdrawal of regime forces from public institutions and streets. This marked the end of a 61-year rule by the Ba'ath Party and 53 years of Assad family leadership.
