"The Butcher of Aleppo" Arrives in Damascus to Support the Syrian Regime
ARK News.. Iranian media confirmed the arrival in Damascus of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Jawad Ghafari, known as the "Butcher of Aleppo," to help the Syrian regime counter opposition attacks in the north of the country.
Iran's Al-Alam channel reported that an Iranian advisory team led by General Jawad Ghafari had arrived in Damascus in a hurry. The visit was described as part of "military, security and political cooperation to help the Syrian regime face attacks in the north of the country.
The source noted that Ghafari was called in due to his extensive experience in Syria, particularly in Aleppo in late 2017. He participated in battles alongside the late IRGC commander Qassem Soleimani, which culminated in the displacement of opposition groups to northern Syria. Ghafari was also involved in battles in Deir Ez-Zour, Palmyra, and the Syrian desert, fighting alongside regime forces.
