Jul 26 2024

ARK News.. Germany has confirmed that war criminals in Syria are not immune from prosecution in the European Union and the United States.

In a tweet via the "X" platform, Stefan Schneck, the German envoy to Syria, said: "The arrest of an alleged war criminal and human rights violator from the Syrian regime is a demonstration of the strength of cooperation between Syrian civil society and justice institutions."

Stefan Schneck stressed that "war criminals must understand that they are not immune from prosecution in the European Union or the United States."

Schenck’s tweet came in response to the arrest by the United States of America of the former governor of Deir Ez-Zour affiliated with the Syrian regime, Samir Othman al-Sheikh, on July 16, on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Syria.
