The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) supply wheat to the Syrian regime for 36 US cents

ARK New… A Syrian media outlet revealed that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) began supplying the first batch of wheat that it received from farmers in Syrian Kurdistan and other areas under its control to the regime’s grain receiving centres in the south of Qamishlo city in Syrian Kurdistan.

Syria TV said that during the past 24 hours, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) brought about 100 trucks from a regime forces checkpoint in the village of Al-Damkhiya village into regime-controlled areas south of Qamishlo city.

According to the media source, the loaded trucks transported more than "2,500 tons" of wheat from the grain receiving centre in the village of Qasrik, north Hasaka city, to the regime's grain receiving centres in the Qamishlo countryside.

The media source added that the convoy of trucks loaded with wheat, accompanied by a Syrian Democratic Forces patrol, crossed the “Girê Spî” checkpoint of the Asayish forces on the international road (M4) north of Hasaka, reaching regime-controlled areas south of Qamishlo.

The media source confirmed that the trucks were loaded with wheat in burlap bags "Shiwal", due to the lack of wheat preservation centres (DOKMA) with the Syrian regime.

According to the Syria TV website, extensive meetings took place between financial officials of the PYD administration affiliated with the PKK and officials from the regime during last May, which led to an agreement to supply 500,000 tons of wheat to the Syrian regime in batches at a price of 36 cents.

The media source also added that PKK cadres informed the Syrian PYD administration officials in the Executive Council and the Economic and Agriculture Boards that they would not buy wheat at a price higher than 32 US cents under the pretext of not having a financial budget and because the majority of the silos were filled with last year’s stock.

It is noteworthy that the PYD administration set the purchase price of wheat from farmers at 31 US cents per kilogram, and the new price is lower than the last year, which was 43 US cents, while the regime set the purchase price of wheat at 5,500 Syrian pounds, equivalent to (36 US cents).
