Deir Ez-Zour... Syrian Democratic Forces kidnap a minor

ARK News… Gunmen of the Revolutionary Youth Movement affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces "SDF" kidnapped a minor from Deir Ez-Zour while he was heading to Raqqa Governorate.

The Syrian Monitoring Network for Human Rights said that the gunmen of the Revolutionary Youth Movement kidnapped the 14-year-old child, “Abdul Hakim Daham al-Sayed,” on Monday, June 10, 2024, in the Sabah al-Khair area in Deir Ez-Zour while he was heading to Raqqa Governorate.

The network confirmed that the kidnapped minor was an “orphan,” and despite his family’s attempts to search for him, they failed.

Antonio Gutierrez, Secretary-General of the United Nations, said during a report entitled “Children and Armed Conflict” issued on June 3, 2024, that the Syrian Democratic Forces and parties affiliated with it recruited (462) children in the areas they control during the year 2023.

Although Mazloum Kobani, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, signed an action plan with Virginia Gamba, the United Nations representative for children and armed conflict, to end and prevent the recruitment of children under the age of 18 and their use in military actions, the involvement of minors in battles and their recruitment still continues.
