The Legal Office of the Kurdish National Council demands the protection of Kurdish judge Newroz Hisso in Afrin
ARK News… The Legal Office of the Kurdish National Council confirmed in a statement of condemnation and denunciation that it is monitoring with great caution the serious violations against the Kurds in the Afrin region in general and against the Kurdish judge, Newroz Hisso, in particular.
Below is the text of the statement:
We are still in the legal office of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, monitoring and documenting the violations taking place across all Syrian territories. Our team documented the violation that occurred in Afrin against the Public Prosecutor, the Kurdish judge, Newroz Hesso, who was subjected to major and violent defamation against the backdrop of the Afrin court issuing a judicial decision ordering the return of homes. Dozens of indigenous Kurdish civilians from the region were forcibly displaced, by force of arms and under threat, and were seized by the Syrian factions called the “Free National Army.” Demonstrations took place by the settlers, with the support of the joint forces of the Free Army factions (al-Hamzat and al-Amshat), refusing to hand over the homes to their residents. The indigenous people, ignoring the judicial decision issued by the Afrin Court of the Ministry of Justice in the Interim Government, raised slogans calling for the killing of the Kurdish judge, Newroz Hasso, claiming that she is the one who made the judicial decision, as well as targeting her family, husband, and children.
Therefore, we in the Legal Office of the Kurdish National Council are monitoring with great caution these serious violations against the Kurds in the Afrin region in general and against the Kurdish judge, Newroz Hisso in particular, and we register our strong condemnation and denunciation of this systematic campaign against her, and we demand the relevant authorities and international parties concerned with the Syrian issue to do the following:
1- Protecting the return of the Kurds to their homes by a UN resolution issued by the Security Council and under the direct supervision of the United Nations.
2- Protecting the property of Kurdish civilians in the Afrin region.
3- Protect the Kurdish judge, Newroz Heso, and her family as a matter of urgency, and take the necessary measures to do so.
4- Respecting judicial decisions issued by the Interim Government’s courts and its judicial institution.
5- Complete independence of the judiciary and moving away from the military dominance of armed factions.
6- Stopping the series of continuous and systematic violations in the Kurdish region of Afrin by many armed factions and settlers.
