The Iranian President and Foreign Minister were killed in a helicopter crash
ARK News… About 12 hours after the helicopter of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi fell in a mountainous area, in East Azerbaijan Province, north-western Iran, the Iranian authorities confirmed the death of President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, along with 7 companions who were on board the helicopter.
On Monday, the government mourned the President of the Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Friday Imam in the city of Tabriz, Ali Al Hashem, and the Governor of East Azerbaijan, Malik Rahmati.
Iranian state television, on Monday, had announced, that “there was no sign” of life in the wreckage of the helicopter that was carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and other officials.
The television reported that “when the helicopter was found, there was no sign that the helicopter’s passengers were alive.”
Iranian Vice President Mohsen Mansouri also confirmed, in a tweet on the X platform, the death of President Ibrahim Raisi in the helicopter crash.
Reuters also quoted an Iranian official as saying that Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian were killed when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed on Sunday.
The Iranian news agency "IRNA" said that the government council is "meeting now" after the killing of Ibrahim Raisi and his companions, adding that the date and location of the farewell ceremony for the president and his companions will be announced.
On Sunday evening, the helicopter of President Ibrahim Raisi and his accompanying delegation suffered a “hard landing” in East Azerbaijan Province, northwest of Iran, after he participated with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, in opening a dam on the border of the two countries.
