The President of the Kurdistan Region congratulates the workers on their International Day
ARK News… Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, congratulated the workers in Kurdistan, Iraq and the world on the occasion of their holiday, which falls on May 1 of every year.
Below is the text of the congratulations:
On the first of May, International Workers’ Day, I extend my warmest congratulations to all workers in Kurdistan, Iraq, and the world, and I pay tribute to their hard-working hands and wish them reassurance, comfortable living, and pride.
While I look with appreciation and gratitude at the efforts and toil of the workers and their active role in the reconstruction and construction process, I affirm my continued support for all their rights and legitimate demands and stress the necessity of an advanced modern law that guarantees a suitable working environment and environment and a better life for the toiling class of workers and their families.
On this occasion, I urge unions and labor organizations to be diligent and make more efforts to secure and protect workers’ rights and ensure equality in employment opportunities. The concerned authorities should also provide care for the families of workers who died while they were working and pay attention to improving their living conditions.
I congratulate everyone on the occasion of May 1st and wish the workers a happy and safe holiday.
