ARK News… the Kurdistan Regional Government, on Friday, April 5, 2024, announced that the decision previously issued by the Regional Council of Ministers headed by Masrour Barzani to reduce the fees for parallel and evening education in universities and institutes has entered into force.

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the Kurdistan Region Council of Ministers held its weekly meeting headed by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, where it unanimously took a number of decisions that are in the interest of the citizens of the region.

One of the decisions included an additional 20% reduction in the fees for parallel and evening education in all universities, institutes and institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region, in addition to the reduction rates previously approved by the Ministry in this regard.

According to a book issued by the Ministry, the decision to reduce tuition fees includes preliminary studies (parallel and evening), and postgraduate studies (higher diploma, master’s, doctorate) by 20% of the fees that have not yet been collected from students in all government universities and institutes, in addition to the Kurdistan Supreme Council for Medical Specializations.

The decision indicated that students benefiting from the decision to reduce tuition fees must pay the remaining amount in installments to their colleges until May 5, 2024.

It stated that the discount applies during the 2023-2024 academic year only and for all academic levels.
