ARK News… In the context of the Lebanese authorities forcing Syrian refugees to “voluntarily return,” and the security restrictions imposed on them in most areas, a number of Syrian prisoners threatened to hang themselves.
Syrian media sources said that four Syrian prisoners in the Lebanese Roumieh prison threatened to hang themselves, in protest against their handover to the Syrian regime, which put their lives in danger, after serving their sentences in Lebanon.
According to media sources, the four prisoners tried to hang themselves using covers and sheets, on Saturday (2/3/2024), before their colleagues were able to save them, but three of them were taken to the hospital and are in critical condition.
The director of the Prisoner's Rights Center at the Tripoli Bar Association, Muhammad Sablouh, said that among those who tried to hang themselves was the brother of a detainee who was handed over to the Syrian regime on Friday, pointing out that these prisoners are opponents of the regime, which it is feared will liquidate them after they are handed over from the security forces.
