Reuters: The European Union approves the 13th package of sanctions against Russia

Feb 21 2024

ARK News… The European Union approved the thirteenth package of sanctions against Russia, which affected about 200 companies and individuals, without including measures against new industries.

Reuters reported, citing the Belgian presidency, that “European Union ambassadors agreed in principle on the thirteenth package of sanctions in the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” and described the package as “one of the broadest sanctions approved by the European Union.”

This package will be formally approved in time for the second anniversary of the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

Western countries raised sanctions pressure against Russia after the start of the Russian military operation against Ukraine in February 2022, while Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that the policy of confrontation with Russia and attempts to weaken the country is a long-term strategy for the West, but the restrictions dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the United States and its allies is to degrade the lives of millions of people.

Moscow has repeatedly stressed that the country will deal with the pressures of sanctions that the West began to exercise several years ago, and is still intensifying.

Russia said that Washington and its allies lack the courage to admit the failure of economic restrictions.

At the same time, there are growing views in the West that the sanctions imposed against Russia are ineffective.
