Activist reveals the real reasons for the recent fighting in Afrin

ARK News: A Kurdish activist from Afrin city revealed to the ARK Media Foundation the real reasons which led to the outbreak of fighting between the armed factions on 18/11/2018 in Afrin and killed more than 30 of militias and the number of wounded.

The activist, who preferred not to be named, said that “the reasons that led to the outbreak of clashes between the militias of “Shuhadaa Al-Sharqiya” and other factions is that Al-Sharqiya did not comply with Turkey's orders to move to other areas to participate in wars that might be fought by Turkey against other Kurdish regions”.

The activist confirmed that "The majority of the militants settled in Afrin with their families, which prevents them from moving to other areas and go into new wars after the stabilization of their feet and stability in the region and adapt to Afrin environment and its picturesque nature, after they wreaked havoc in the region and carried out robberies and looting in villages and neighborhoods of the city and seized agricultural crops.

For his part, Azad Othman, a member of the Local Council of Afrin city said yesterday, while participating in the ARK newsletter that the military operation came at the request of the people of Afrin and the process will include other factions as well.

With regard to Shuhadaa Al-Sharqiya militias, Osman added that at the initiative of the Association of Independents and some of the elders of the Umairat clans in the city, the militias of Shuhadaa Al-Sharqiya headed towards Jenderes town and they are likely to head to Idlib later.

On the security situation and living, Othman confirmed that normal life returned to Afrin city after violent clashes between the factions within the neighborhoods of Afrin crowded with civilians.
