More than 35 people were killed and 25 injured in clashes between Turkish forces and pro-Turkish militias

ARK News: “At least 35 militias have been killed and 25 others wounded in an “unprecedented” infighting between pro-Turkey groups over influence in the Kurdish town of Afrin”, special sources in Afrin city reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Sunday that clashes between the majority of the pro-Ankara militias and a group of about 200 fighters in several districts had left 35 dead other 25 wounded .
According to Turkish and some armed groups sources statements, the 200 militias of Shuhadaa Al-Sharqiya faction were accused of “disobeying” Turkish troops and “committing abuses” in Afrin region, and they must be taken out of Afrin city.

Observatory head Rami Abdul Rahman described the heavy clashes as “unprecedented since the rebels seized Afrin”, which led to the removal of that group from Afrin city by force.
“The clashes provoked terror among civilians,” he said, adding that “Turkish tanks are patrolling the streets of the town.”

The fighting comes amid a curfew imposed by Turkish forces stationed in Afrin on civilians since Saturday evening, according to the observatory.

According to local sources in Afrin that after a bloody day in the center of Afrin Kurdish city between the so-called of militias of “Shuhadaa Al-Sharqiya” on the one hand and the armed factions and Turkish forces, on the other hand, a normal life returned to Afrin city.

The United Nations and human rights groups, including Amnesty International, have documented widespread abuses since the capture of the Kurdish Afrin city by the Ankara-backed militias.
According to a report by the UN Commission of Inquiry, half of the enclave’s 320,000 residents fled and most are unable to return.

It is noteworthy that the armed groups in cooperation with the Turkish army began the so-called Operation “Olive Branch” against Afrin on January 20 to remove out of PYD militants from region, but those groups committed dozens of violations of killing, kidnapping and imposition of taxes by force and burning of forests and agricultural crops, which aims to the demographic change of the Kurdish region as a result of housing displaced families in the homes of Kurdish citizens in addition to the prevent of the return of displaced Kurds to their homes.
