ARK News… The United Nations. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, said that the entry of humanitarian aid into Syria through the Bab al-Hawa border crossing “has not yet resumed,” despite reaching an agreement in this regard with the Syrian regime.

United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric said, during a press conference, that UN aid currently reaches Syrian territory through the Bab al-Salama and al-Rai land crossings with Turkey.

He added that the United Nations continues to work on "operational details in order to implement the agreement reached with the Syrian regime" regarding the entry of aid through the Bab al-Hawa crossing.

According to United Nations estimates, 15.3 million Syrians will need protection and humanitarian assistance in 2023, the highest number since 2011.

On July 9, the UN Security Council failed to renew the UN cross-border aid mechanism to Syria due to Russia's use of its veto.

The United Nations had announced that it had reached an "understanding" with the Syrian regime to extend the entry of cross-border aid, using the Bab al-Salama and al-Rai crossings, for an additional three months, as well as its agreement to deliver aid across conflict lines inside Syria in Sarmada and Saraqeb during the next six months.
