ARK News… A group of activists in Suwayda, on Saturday evening, issued a statement confirming the continuation of popular protests against the Syrian regime until its goals are achieved.

It was stated in the statement circulated on social media that the youth of the movement agreed on a set of decisions, out of concern for the peacefulness of the uprising and a commitment to the safety of the people and the protection of public and private property from any attempt to tamper and sabotage.

In their statement, the activists declared that the movement "continues in its peaceful and civilized form, calling for regime change and the implementation of Resolution 2254 to achieve sustainable peace."

The activists decided to "close the (Baath) party branch in Suwayda and all-party headquarters in the cities, towns and villages of the province," noting that this decision is "irreversible."

The activists agreed to close all government departments, with the exception of water, telephone, electricity and service institutions, which will be partially closed.

The statement called for the continuation of the strike in the shops until ten in the morning every day, and the protesters in the villages called for blocking the roads for employees who are not committed to the strike, with the exception of employees in the health and education sectors.

The statement stressed that "the Damascus- Suwayda Road is opened for the passage of flour, fuel, humanitarian and health cases, and students" only.

The activists affirmed the unity of Syria with all its sects, emphasizing their rejection of any partition project, calling on the people to adhere to the decisions of the statement, which will enter into force as of Sunday, August 27, and to support the peaceful movement to obtain all usurped rights.
