Civil Defense: The Syrian regime and Russia are violating international humanitarian law and threatening the lives of students
ARK News… The Syrian Civil Defense has warned that the escalation of the Syrian regime and Russia, and their systematic bombing of schools in northwestern Syria, threatens the progress of the educational process and the lives of students, with the approach of the new academic year.
The Civil Defense said that the Syrian regime and Russia targeted, on the morning of Saturday, August 26, 2023, two schools directly, and the vicinity of a third school.
This morning, the city of Jisr al-Shighour was subjected to artillery shelling, one of the shells targeted the "Abdul Rahman al-Nasser School for Basic Education", and the shelling also targeted the vicinity of the "Rabi'a al-Adaweya" school, and one of the shells landed next to it.
The town of Al-Mozara, south of Idlib, was subjected to similar artillery shelling, and one of the shells targeted the "Muhammad Al-Fateh" school, which resulted in material damage to the school, which is located within a complex that also includes another nearby school.
It stressed that the absence of accountability and continued impunity for crimes is what allows the Assad regime and Russia to flagrantly violate international humanitarian law, and to continue targeting civilians, vital facilities, and schools without any deterrence.
