President Masoud Barzani praises the role of teachers in educating young people and advancing society

ARK News… President Masoud Barzani, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, met with university professors, education and academics in the city of Duhok, as part of his tour to the Badinan region and his meeting with various segments of society.

During the meeting, the President delivered a speech, in which he referred to the essential role that teachers play in educating young people and advancing society and science, expressing his gratitude to university professors who were present in the arenas of science and education in all circumstances and served the Kurdish people sincerely and did not allow the educational process to stop.

President Barzani highlighted the political situation in the Kurdistan Region, stressing that he will do his best to provide the basis for unity and consensus between the Kurdish parties.

I consider that differences of opinion are normal, pointing at the same time to the need for a complete agreement on strategic and national goals among all political parties.

The president talked about the history of the Iraqi state, which was established on the basis of the Kurdish-Arab partnership, and noted that this partnership "was ignored, and then came the attempts to destroy the Kurdish people and commit genocide against them."

He said: After the fall of the previous regime, Iraq had the opportunity again to build according to the principles of partnership, balance and compatibility and to start a new life on the basis of the constitution, but unfortunately, once again the principles and the constitution were abandoned, and the intention to weaken the entity of the region and an attempt to starve the Kurdish people appeared on the part of some Iraqi authorities.

In this regard, President Barzani explained to the meeting the results of the recent visit of the delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, which went to Baghdad and met with Iraqi political parties.

In a related context, President Barzani spoke at length about the parties that create chaos in society, spread disappointment, and destroy national sense and societal values.

In this regard, he called on teachers and intellectuals to confront such discordant voices, and to work to deepen the sense of patriotism and political and social coexistence.

In addition, President Barzani highlighted the efforts of the Kurdistan government to build and develop education, secure job opportunities for young people and find other sources of income for the region, as well as presenting the reasons for migration and combating drugs.

He called on teachers and academics to provide support and assistance to the directions of the regional government and the relevant authorities in this sensitive task.

At the end of the meeting, the audience was allowed to ask questions and make proposals on various topics, with which President Barzani interacted and provided the necessary answers to the participants' comments.
