A player from Syrian Kurdistan who plays in the English Premier League
ARK News... Mahmoud Daoud is expected to become the first Kurdish player from Syrian Kurdistan to become a professional in the English Premier League, after signing a contract to join Brighton Club, which succeeded in being the dark horse of the most exciting tournament this season.
The British newspaper, the Daily Mail, said that the Brighton club agreed to the terms of a four-year contract with the agent of Mahmoud Dawoud, 27 after the German midfielder left Borussia Dortmund.
Daoud played more than 140 matches with the German club, but he only played 10 matches this season after he dislocated his shoulder last year.
The star, born in Syrian Kurdistan, joined Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2017 in an agreed deal, when Thomas Tuchel was still in charge of the famous yellow German club.
Dawoud, who was born in the city of Amouda, in Syrian Kurdistan, played for the German national team in 2021, playing the first two matches against Turkey and the Czech Republic.
He also played with the German national team under the age of 21, the European Championship that was held in Poland in the summer of 2014.
No soccer player born in Syrian Kurdistan and Syria has ever played in the English Premier League, just as Dawoud was the first Kurdish player from Syrian Kurdistan and Syria to play in the German Bundesliga.
Brighton ranked sixth in the English Premier League this season after an exceptional performance to book a place in the European League Championship.
