ARK News… The Martyrs Foundation opened a mass grave in the Hawija district of Kirkuk Governorate, which is likely to contain victims of Yezidi girls who were executed by ISIS terrorists.

The head of the foundation, Abd al-Ilah al-Naeli, said: "The cemetery, which was inaugurated by a technical and engineering team that includes the Department of Mass Graves Affairs and Protection, the Department of Forensic Medicine and the International Investigation Team (UNITAD), indicates that it includes victims of Yezidi girls who were executed by ISIS terrorist gangs."

Pointing out the importance of the cemetery because it strengthens Iraq's position internationally, since the crimes of genocide need international support to restore the rights of the victims, explaining that the team, after the completion of the exhumation of the remains, will hand them over to the forensic medicine department to determine the identity of the victims with the aim of including them with the dues of the victims of terrorism, in addition to providing sufficient information to the competent authorities to legislate the Unified National Register of Missing Persons who disappeared in mass graves.

In the same context, Al-Naeli mentioned that the Foundation has coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross and relevant international organizations with the aim of providing adequate support to the Foundation in the field of discovering and excavating the geographical locations of graves, in addition to making use of previous experiences of international bodies by adopting a mechanism for dealing with the remains of missing persons at the crime site after the passage of many years on it.
