Israel admits to Washington the killing of Sherin Abu Aqelah
ARK News… Al-Jazeera reported, in a report it published on the first anniversary of the killing of Sherin Abu Aqelah, that Israel had admitted to the US leadership its responsibility for the killing of its journalist.
The report said, "A senior Israeli official in the office of former Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz confessed to US officials that the bullet that killed Abu Aqelah was fired by an Israeli soldier."
It quoted a source who was briefed on this confession as saying, "The Israeli official said that the killing of Sherin was a mistake, but he insisted that Israel would not announce or admit it officially."
Journalist Sherin Abu Aqelah was killed on May 11 last year, by Israeli forces, while she was covering clashes in the West Bank city of Jenin.
