The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that 500 US citizens, including former US President Barack Obama, will be banned from entering Russia, in response to US sanctions.

According to the ministry's statement: "In response to the sanctions that the Joe Biden administration regularly imposes against Russia, which, according to Washington's plan, are designed to inflict maximum damage on Russia by influencing officials and citizens of our country, Moscow has denied entry to 500 US citizens into the Russian Federation."

The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the time has come for Washington to know that any hostile attack against Russia will not be left without a harsh response.

"The principle of inevitability of punishment will be applied consistently, whether it is to tighten the pressure of penalties or to take discriminatory steps to impede the professional activities of our citizens," the statement added.

The ministry indicated that among the citizens banned from entering Russia, “former US President Barack Obama and current leaders at various levels of the executive branch, former officials such as White House Secretary to combat “Russian disinformation” Nina Yankovic, and members of the Senate and Congress who were elected for the first time in November 2022, experts and employees of analytical centers involved in the dissemination of anti-Russian and disinformation, as well as heads of companies supplying weapons to the Kyiv regime.

The statement concluded, "The list includes 500 individuals in government and law enforcement agencies who are directly involved in the persecution of dissidents in the aftermath of the so-called 'capitol storming'."
