Germany... Naturalization of 14,000 Syrians in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2022
Ark News… The number of Syrians obtaining German citizenship in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia has increased in a record way, according to the latest statistics issued by the Statistics Office.
The German News Agency (DPA) reported on Wednesday that 14,000 Syrians were granted citizenship to 41,000 foreigners in the year 2022.
The statistics office said this was the largest annual number since 2003 when 30 people gained citizenship in a year.
Syrians made up about a third of the naturalized people in the state last year, and this is due to the fact that most of the Syrians who arrived between 2014 and 2016 fulfilled the official requirements for naturalization.
(4,500) people from Turkey were naturalized, followed by (2,500) from Iraq.
