ARK News... In a flagrant violation of children's rights, the Syrian Democratic Forces kidnapped an eleven-year-old boy with the aim of forcibly recruiting him.

The Syria Monitoring Network for Human Rights said in a report, a copy of which was received by ARK: “The Syria Monitoring Network for Human Rights documented on 1-4-2023 the detention of the 11-year-old Khalil Ibrahim Al-Hassan Al-Fadhil from the Mazzeh Shihade area behind Al-Furat Hospital in Al-Raqqa Governorate at the hands of the Shabiba of the Revolutionary Forces of the Syrian Democratic Forces and taking him to child recruitment camps.”

It emphasized that "the child is alone and his father is in the prisons of the Syrian Democratic Forces, while he lives with his uncle. The Syrian Democratic Forces are still continuing their violations against civilians and children in their areas of control, and they are arresting children and putting them in child recruitment camps."

Although the Syrian Democratic Forces signed an action plan with the United Nations in order to end and prevent the recruitment of children under the age of 18 and their use in military actions, as the plan was signed by the Commander-in-Chief of the SDF, Mazloum Kobani, with the United Nations Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba, during an official ceremony was held at the United Nations Palace, on June 29, 2019. However, the enrollment of minors in battles and their recruitment continues, amid neglect of the appeals of the children's families, and the calls of Kurdish activists, politicians, and parties for the need to put an end to this dangerous phenomenon that caused in one way or another the emptying of the region from the Kurds.
