Kurdish refugees in Lebanon to ARK: Serious fears that we will be deported to Syria by force
ARK News... Kurdish refugees fleeing the war raging in Syria for years in Lebanon today, April 27, 2023, expressed their fears as a result of the raids against them by the Lebanese authorities and their subsequent deportation to Syria.
For some time now, the Lebanese authorities have continued to raid homes and camps inhabited by Syrian refugees, with the aim of deporting them to Syria.
L.L., a Kurdish refugee, told ARK, "We have serious fears that we will be forcibly deported to Syria, as we have no shelter or home there."
The Kurdish refugee woman, who hails from Afrin, indicated that "the armed opposition factions have seized her house in Afrin, and for years she has been working in Lebanon to support her children."
For his part, another refugee who is wanted for compulsory service by the regime confirmed that his forced return would endanger his life and the lives of hundreds of fleeing people, especially since they are wanted for compulsory service.
Amnesty International said a few days ago that the Lebanese authorities should immediately stop forcibly deporting Syrian refugees to Syria, amid fears that these individuals would be at risk of torture or persecution at the hands of the Syrian regime upon their return.
