Beijing responds to criticism of its document on the Ukrainian settlement

ARK News… Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin considered that the criticism of the Chinese document on the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis is an unjustified attempt to "discredit China."

"I think these people are expressing a point of view that is not based on facts. They slander China," the spokesperson said on Friday when asked to comment on criticism of the Chinese document, particularly claims that its provisions "do not contain anything new."

He added that criticizing the Chinese concept is much easier than "thinking about what they themselves did to solve the crisis politically." Wang also pointed out the need to distinguish between those who "genuinely contribute to the search for a peaceful solution" and those who "contribute to increasing tension and escalation."

The Chinese Foreign Ministry published, earlier, on Friday, a document consisting of 12 items, presenting Beijing's position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. The document called for an end to the fighting and the launch of peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible.

The document stressed a number of principles, including the need to abandon the Cold War mentality, the inadmissibility of achieving the security of a country at the expense of the security of other countries, and ensuring regional security by strengthening or even expanding military blocs, stressing that the legitimate security interests and concerns of all countries should be taken seriously into consideration and reject double standards.
