The bodies of 18 migrants were found in an abandoned truck in Bulgaria
ARK News… Bulgarian police on Friday found an abandoned truck containing the bodies of 18 migrants who had apparently suffocated to death.
The Bulgarian Interior Ministry said, according to the Associated Press, that the truck was carrying about 40 migrants, and the survivors were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Bulgarian Health Minister Asen Medjedev said most of the survivors were in very poor condition.
"They suffer from a lack of oxygen, their clothes are wet and frozen, and it is clear that they have not eaten for days," he added.
The truck was found abandoned on a highway near the capital, Sofia. The driver was not in it, but police discovered the occupants under a load of timber.
The authorities have not yet revealed the nationalities of the migrants, but Bulgarian media reported that they were all Afghans.
