Pedersen calls for putting aside politics and providing urgent support to the Syrians
ARK News… The envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Geir Pedersen, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, called on the international community to help the thousands affected by the earthquake disaster in Syria, stressing full participation in solidarity and support.
In a tweet, the UN envoy expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life and massive destruction that befell thousands in Turkey and Syria, men, women, children, and the elderly, in the middle of winter.
Pedersen added that he offered his deepest condolences to those affected, many of whom were subjected to severe and prolonged suffering.
"The Syrians are in dire need of international assistance, and I encourage everyone to provide them with the necessary support," he said.
