Thomas: The earthquake exacerbated the crises facing the Syrians
ARK News... The US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas Greenfield, confirmed that the earthquake disaster "has doubled the crises facing the Syrians."
In a statement issued at dawn on Wednesday, the ambassador said that she feels "deep sadness" over a large number of victims in Turkey and Syria.
She added: Medical facilities in Syria have always been under pressure beyond their capacity, and these earthquakes multiply the Syrians' confrontation.
She noted that the earthquakes represent an additional challenge for the United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations that provide assistance.
The US ambassador renewed her country's full readiness to provide aid to all those affected by the disaster, describing it as a horrific tragedy, and made it clear that US President Joe Biden had ordered an immediate response, and called for the need for the international community to urgently increase the amount of funding and assistance for relief to those affected.
