An organization that condemns the exploitation of children in northern Syria with the aim of promoting donations

ARK News… A relief team revealed that there is a great deal of exploitation of children by the agencies and activities operating in northern Syria, with the aim of promoting donations in order to collect more support.

In a statement, the "Syria Response Coordinators Team" condemned the use of children to collect donations, considering it an "uncivilized method," stressing that "the child's place is mainly in school, not working in fundraising, and these actions are an exploitation of children's rights and teaching children to beg."

He said that the spread of video clips of children in cases of collecting donations or working to secure support for children according to a method that relies on emotional blackmail for donors, ignoring those parties that these cases affect the situation of the child and a major violation of the rights of the child who will suffer from these effects later.

He explained that the major problem in these cases lies in two directions, the first is teaching the child words and phrases that he is unable to understand at all, in a step to blackmail the viewer and urge them to donate. The owner of the video clip, as the Syria Response Coordinators documented the interruption of support for more than nine cases after the spread of their videos.

He urged all parties to work immediately to stop this phenomenon, especially in the camps, stressing the importance of understanding the difficult human reality that families in the region are going through, but the exploitation of children has become an unacceptable phenomenon and needs to be controlled to prevent its spread.

He also called on humanitarian organizations operating in the region to abide by international conventions on children's rights, foremost among them the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child of 1924 and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on November 20, 1959, and recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
