Azizi to ARK: Turkish normalization with the regime comes as a response to America's opposition to the military operation

Midas Azizi, the official spokesman for the Syrian National Meeting, on Saturday, January 7, 2023, said that the Turkish rapprochement with the regime comes as a response to America's prevention of starting the Turkish military operation on the remaining areas of Syrian Kurdistan that are under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces, which are Turkish messages for America, it has alternatives to stand in front of the American project.

Azizi added, during his participation in the ARK newsletter, that there are many opponents to normalization, including Iran, while Turkey hopes for normalization to return the Syrian refugees to Turkey, especially since the file of returning refugees is among the plans of the Turkish opposition.

He emphasized that the presence of the PKK and the SDF in Syrian Kurdistan and on the border with Turkey is just an argument for Turkey because the PKK is part of the Turkish project and does not constitute a problem for it.

He indicated in his speech that Syrian civilians are opposed to any Turkish normalization with the Syrian regime and that the demonstrations and protests that took place had a great impact on the course of the normalization process and the Syrian political decision, and the Turkish role since the beginning of the Syrian crisis was not in favor of the Syrian people.

But the question remains, what does the Syrian regime have to offer Turkey as well as Turkey? We cannot call the rapprochement reconciliation.
