He concluded with a discussion with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at the headquarters of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Turkish capital. The head of the Syrian Negotiation Commission Badr Jamous and the head of the Syrian government Interim Abdul Rahman Mustafa attended the meeting.
The attendees discussed the latest developments in the field situation and political developments related to the Syrian file. Al-Muslet affirmed that Turkey is a strong ally of the Syrian revolution and opposition forces, and a great supporter of the aspirations of the Syrians to achieve freedom, dignity, and democracy, expressing his hope that Turkey will remain so, and that its steps will be in favor of these aspirations through implementing the political solution approved by all international resolutions on the Syrian issue, particularly the Geneva Resolutions 2118 and 2254.
At the same time, Al-Muslet warned against the Assad regime and its deception and failure to fulfill its commitments, which the international community has become accustomed to over the past years.
Al-Muslet also emphasized that the Syrian revolution and opposition forces are concerned and keen to activate the political process, which is what they always demand, in order to end the suffering of the Syrian people by reaching a complete political transition that establishes a new phase in Syria based on justice and equality, and restores security and stability to Syria and the countries of the region, where facts have proven the Assad regime’s involvement in forming militias and terrorist organizations across borders.
Al-Muslet explained that the Assad regime bears full responsibility for what happened and is happening in Syria, by relying on killing, repression, terrorism, and drugs in order to remain in power, and it also relies on deception and procrastination to obstruct any political process related to Syria.
Al-Muslet thanked Turkey and all the countries hosting the Syrian refugees and stressed that what Turkey, in particular, and the countries hosting Syrian refugees provided, cannot be forgotten and is a debt on the shoulders of all the Syrian people, stressing that the real solution to the refugee problem is to achieve a political transition and provide a safe and stable environment that guarantees voluntary and safe return of refugees.
During the meetings, he stressed their adherence to the demands of the Syrian people and the principles of the Syrian revolution, which the Syrian people are still taking out in continuous demonstrations in the north and south to express and demand them, which is a trust that cannot be forfeited until the goals of the Syrian revolution are fully achieved.
For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stressed during the meeting that the Turkish steps aim to combat terrorism, accelerate the political process related to Syria in accordance with UN Resolution 2254, and find a final solution that ends the tragedy of the Syrian people.
Davutoglu stressed that Turkey's position in support of the Syrian revolution and opposition forces and the Syrian people is consistent and has not changed, stressing his country's concern for the lives of Syrians and its commitment to the rights of its refugees, and denying the existence of any intention or pressure to force the refugees to return before achieving stability.
