Revival of the Kurdistan Flag Day in the Kurdistan Region Representative of the Kurdish National Council

ARK News... The Kurdistan Region representative of the Kurdish National Council, on Saturday, December 17, 2022, celebrated the Kurdistan Flag Day in the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

In the presence of members and supporters of the Kurdish National Council, the commemoration ceremony took place in front of the representation headquarters in the Bakhtiyari neighborhood of Erbil.

The head of the region's representative to the Council, Dr. Kawa Azizi gave a speech in which he talked about the Kurdistan flag and its symbolism for the Kurdish people.

On December 17 of each year, the Kurdistan Flag Day passes in the Kurdistan Region, and this day was set by the Kurdistan Parliament on December 11, 2009, where special ceremonies are organized in all cities and regions of the region to raise the flag and celebrate it, as it is hung on Breasts by citizens out of pride in his sanctity.

The cities of Kurdistan are witnessing a variety of festive activities, on the occasion.

The Kurdish flag has a sacred place for all the Kurdish people, wherever they are, and they carry it in their hearts and chests, even if it is not possible to see it raised on poles sometimes.

The flag of Kurdistan contains three colors, which are red, which symbolizes redemption and the pure blood that was spilled for the sake of freedom and independence, green symbolizes the evergreen nature of Kurdistan, and white symbolizes peace and security, and it is arranged horizontally and in the center is a yellow sun disk with 21 rays symbolizing March 21, the day of the Kurdish National Day, Newroz, and the Kurdish New Year.

Kurdistan Flag Day was determined as an official occasion based on the date it was raised in the city of Mahabad in eastern Kurdistan (Iranian Kurdistan) when the independent Republic of Kurdistan was declared in the city, and the Kurdistan flag was raised on December 17, 1945, in the city that was declared the capital of the long-running republic for about a year.

Flag Day celebration is not limited to the Kurdistan Region, but also includes the Kurdish community in Europe, America, and Russia, as well as other countries.
