US lawmakers approve the draft defense budget for 2023 worth $858 billion
ARK News… The Armed Forces Committees in the US House of Representatives and Senate in a joint statement on Tuesday announced their approval of the country's draft defense budget for the fiscal year 2023 at a value of $858 billion.
The bill is expected to be put to a vote in the House of Representatives this week, followed by a vote in the Senate, before the final budget document is submitted to US President Joe Biden for signature.
The draft defense budget provides for the allocation of at least $800 million to assist Ukraine in the field of security, $500 million more than the White House requested.
The United States intends to allocate $11.5 billion for defensive deterrence in the Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific regions.
The document provides for the allocation of 6 billion dollars for a "containment initiative" in Europe directed against Russia.
The two congressional committees included in the new defense budget bill an initiative aimed at preventing transactions with Russian gold reserves, and extending the ban on military cooperation with Russia for another five years, and the project also directs the US government to seek to exclude Russia from a number of international organizations, including the Group of Twenty.
US lawmakers also approved full funding for the program to produce the sixth-generation B-21a strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
According to the American magazine "Time", the US Department of Defense plans to order 100 aircraft of this type at a copy price of more than $ 690 million.
