Masrour Barzani: Our priority is to pave the way for the women of Kurdistan to play an active, effective, and worthy role

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, on Friday, said that the government is committed to confronting violence against women, stressing at the same time that protecting women's rights and expanding their participation in public life is a joint duty between the government and society.

This came during a message from Masrour Barzani, on the occasion of the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women”.

In his message, the Prime Minister said, "On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women”, we reaffirm the firm position of the Kurdistan Regional Government regarding confronting and preventing any kind of violence and discrimination against women.

Masrour Barzani stressed that one of the priority tasks of the ninth cabinet is to make room for women and pave the way for Kurdistan women to play an active, effective, and worthy role in various government positions.

"We are also trying to develop a culture of respect for human rights in general, women's rights, and non-discrimination between the sexes in Kurdistan," he added.
