ARK News... France has condemned the Syrian regime's obstruction of the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, calling on the regime to destroy its entire stockpile of chemical weapons.

This came in a statement by the Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations, following the monthly Security Council meeting on the implementation of Resolution 2118 to eliminate the Syrian regime's chemical weapons program.

The statement of the French mission said that no one contested the fact that the Syrian regime attacked the Damascus countryside in 2013, with weapons prohibited by international law, and resulted in the death of many civilians, and the Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2118.

The statement denounced the lack of any progress in implementing the Security Council resolution and the Syrian regime's obstruction of the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

The French diplomatic mission to the United Nations stressed that the Syrian regime must completely clean its stockpile and comply with its international obligations if it wants to restore its rights and privileges.

The French mission stressed that the fight against impunity and the total prohibition of the use of chemical weapons remains one of our priorities, a battle that is the basis for the effectiveness and credibility of the chemical weapons ban regime, explaining that this is the meaning of the continuous mobilization in favor of the international partnership against impunity for the use of chemical weapons.
